About Yakjah
Yakjah Reconciliation and Development Network is a youth and women-led non-profit focused on peacebuilding. Initially founded informally in 2002 and officially registered in 2010, Yakjah has empowered over 5,000+ young adults and women through healing, cultural understanding, and inclusive leadership. Through deep listening, dialogue, and strategic partnerships, it unites diverse communities to foster lasting peace. Yakjah envisions leveraging its expertise, proven models and innovative programs to establish a transformative Peace Institute in the region, advancing best practices and thought leadership to develop the next generation of peacebuilders.
Yakjah’s Vision is to build a society based on principles of justice, pluralism, diversity, cultural ethos and accountability, with the Mission to develop a collective of peace leaders who uphold fairness, inclusivity, and accountability at all levels.

About Yakjah
Yakjah’s peacebuilding approach addresses divisions within communities along religious, ethnic, and cultural lines by involving youth and women in leadership roles through participatory, inclusive methods. It focuses on three core pathways: Leadership Development, Community Transformation, and Capacity Building. Through training, mentorship, cross-cultural exchange, and collaborative projects.
Addressing violent conflict locally, Yakjah’s work has revealed that internal fault lines, stemming from unhealed trauma, vengeance, and crises of belonging, often drive conflict as much as external factors like inequality, social injustice, discrimination and marginalization. Yakjah's transformative approach emphasizes self-awareness, empathy, and mindfulness to cultivate compassionate and humanitarian leadership. Using creative methods like storytelling, art, theatre, and experiential activities, Yakjah drives both personal and social transformation.
Yakjah’s impact is evidenced in the strong network of peacebuilders it has cultivated, many of whom serve as facilitators, healers, community mobilizers, mentors, and trainers. These peacebuilders have launched initiatives in social development, education, and environmental sustainability, or joined political parties to strengthen democratic spaces. Yakjah's Theory of Change has become a case study for academics and practitioners worldwide.
